TEPR: helping local authorities realise their sustainable transport responsibilities
Local authorities have to deliver transport systems on the ground while protecting the environment.
This needs to be undertaken within a context of national and international policies that aim to protect the environment, reduce air pollution and deliver a low carbon economy. TEPR can bring additional capacity and expertise to support the development and analysis of sustainable transport policies. This can involve researching good practice from elsewhere or wider issues including promoting cycling facilities and improving air quality.

TEPR can support local authorities in the development of sustainable transport policies by undertaking:
- Reviews of experience and good practice on policies to reduce the environmental impact of transport policy
- Analysis of the relevant transport and environment policy framework
- Engagement with stakeholders on the development of policies
- Working with stakeholders on the evaluation of policies
- Literature reviews
- Summaries of relevant transport and environmental issues
- Providing support to cities interested in applying for the European Green Capital Award.

TEPR can work with local authorities to support the development of policies in the following areas:
- Clean vehicles and low emission vehicles
- Green public procurement
- Cycling and walking
- Public transport
- Reducing air pollutant emissions from transport
